Taking the Bible Figuratively

September 9 - We talked with James Rowe Adams, founder of The Center for Progressive Christianity, about his latest book, From Literal to Literary. He maintains that religious language is primarily figurative by nature. The Bible is full of metaphors that "like knotholes in a fence around a construction site allow the curious to peek into the realm of God."

Looking at September
Everybody enjoy the Blues Blowout Weekend on KZUM 89.3 FM. We'll be back Interrobanging on September 9. We will be exploring more ideas around the kinds of faith and culture that don't injure others in their practice. In the near future we will talk about praying labyrinths, spiritual direction, and the "troublesome words" of religion.Remember, September is "Celebration of the Sneeze" month. Sneezing clears the head, expels unwanted particulates from the body, and can't be done with your eyes open. Enjoy your next sneeze to the fullest! BTW, I just named September "Celebration of the Sneeze" month. What kind of new celebrations do we need?
